Harlan Schoneweis was a loyal member of the Jay Husker Auto Club and is now a lifetime member in memorium. Rest in peace our friend.
Harlan Dale Schoneweis, 87, of Beatrice, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Beatrice Health and Rehab. He was born on January 12, 1938, at rural Filley to Herman and Ann (Ideus) Schoneweis. Harlan was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, attended Filley school, and served in the National Guard. On October 21, 1962, he married Mary Pollock at Trinity Lutheran Church in Beatrice. They lived in California for the first years of their marriage. They moved back to Beatrice in 1964 to farm. Harlan's lifelong love of work included farming, trucking, and operating construction equipment. In retirement he enjoyed restoring and showing classic cars and tractors, camping, fishing, traveling, playing cards, reading, watching Nebraska volleyball, and spending time with his family. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church and currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church both of Beatrice.
Survivors include his sons, Harlan Schoneweis, Jr., of California, John (Colleen) Schoneweis of Beatrice, and Mark (Cheryl) Schoneweis of Pickrell; daughter, Christina (Larry) Vrtiska of Lincoln; grandchildren, Emily (Brock) McDougall, Katelyn (Martin) York, Brok and Elijah Schoneweis, and Landry Vrtiska; great-grandchildren, Piper and Rory McDougall; partner, Laura Gerlach; sisters-in-law, Alice Schoneweis and Lila Bocedi; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who died on January 9, 2003; grandson, Alexander Schoneweis; father, Herman Schoneweis; mother, Ann Schoneweis Schmidt; brothers, Eldean Schoneweis and Delmar (Sharon) Schoneweis; sister, Sharon Ann (Roger) Abitz; parents-in-law, James and Tena Pollock; sister-in-law, Margaret (Jim) Brewer; brother-in-law, Enrique Bocedi.
